Support for Parents with Unique Needs
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Parents
As a lesbian mother myself, I feel a real connection with LGBT parents. I understand the unique challenges and joys that LGBT parents face, and very much enjoy working with these families. I work with parents from out of the Santa Barbara area either over the phone or during a visit to Santa Barbara. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are an LGBT parent in need of support.
Parents in Recovery from Drugs and Alcohol
In 2008, I developed a parent education program at Casa Serena, a non-profit residential recovery program for women in Santa Barbara, California. Through my continuing work there, I have come to understand the issues faced by parents and children who have lived with addiction. I enjoy working with parents who are in any stage of recovery from drugs and alcohol.
High Risk Parents
Through my work with mothers in early recovery, I have developed a parenting curriculum for parents whose children have been removed from their custody by the State of California. This curriculum has been approved by Child Welfare Services and meets the parent education requirement for mothers beginning the process of reunifying with their children.
